PedalThePeriphery is an epic endurance event that challenges teams to cycle 480 miles non-stop in 48 hours around Northern Ireland, all in a team relay format.

Co-founded in 2023 by sisters Andrea Harrower and Cathy Booth, the event has grown into a flagship fundraiser for NIPANC, Northern Ireland’s pancreatic cancer charity.

Since it began, more than 600 people across 61 teams have taken on the challenge, together raising an incredible £600,000+ to support families affected by pancreatic cancer, raise awareness and invest in vital research.

And for Year 5, we’re changing things up. For the first time, the 480-mile route will run in the opposite direction. After four years travelling clockwise, reflecting NIPANC’s #TimeMatters campaign, in 2027 we’re changing direction — but never our purpose.

Teams of between 2 and 12 riders take on approximately 480 miles around the periphery of Northern Ireland in a relay format, with just one team member on the road at any given time.

Starting at Lisburn Rugby Football Club and finishing at Wallace High School, teams set off at staggered intervals. For the first time in 2027, the route will be ridden in the opposite direction.

This is not a closed-road event, and all riders must follow the Highway Code. The relay format welcomes cyclists of varying experience levels, all united by one shared purpose: to pedal for pancreatic cancer awareness.
